the beers of FUTENMA part 7: Monchshof Natur Radler

I guess I've been on a citrus kick as of late. This next beer is another of the Monchshofs I got in that sample pack. Its a radler, which means its beer with lemonaide or lemon soda in it (radlers don't necessarily have to be lemon, this one just is). Just like all of the other Monchshofs, it has a porcelain top and a rather thick glass bottle. But enough about the bottle, lets crack it open.

It makes a nice pitth sound when you open it, the beer springs to life a little bit and then dies back down. Not much of a nose to it, I suppose I can smell a little citrus and beer, but nothing heavy. Well, its lemon, and beer. The first and second sips were underwelming. It tastes like those lemon shortbread cookies they have in the reception area at church, the off brand ones ( I suppose the path to heaven is paved with "food lion" brand snacks). Let's pour it into the super traditional Orion mug and see how it heads (I watched some of a documentary on beer and now I'm getting all fancy with the terminology).

The head doesn't last particularly long, which is fine with me. It has a clear golden color, which leads me to believe that it's a pilsner at it's base.

It's a pleasant beer, suitable to a summer's day out on the porch. I wish I had other radlers to try, I think more people (women in particular) would enjoy a good beer if there were more that tasted like this. On the plus side, if you had a few of them, you would not have to worry about anyone telling you that you had beer breath. The smell is so faint it would be amazing that they smelled it in the first place, and so citrusy that they would not necessarily think that it was beer if they did. However, it's 2.5% alcohol, so I don't think you have to worry about getting sloppy from it. Barely counts as booze.
